Our mental and emotion well being are essential for our overall health during these difficult times.

Stress negatively impacts many functions in the body, including digestion and optimal immune function, which are two key elements to a strong and healthy body.  Thus, it is imperative we navigate our stress so that our bodies can be well, which can be so challenging during this time!

We would like to share one of our favourite resources with you in the hopes it will do for you, what it is doing for us: providing us with calm in face of this storm.

These days are overwhelming, daunting and scary at times.  And while these emotions are completely natural and valid, they do not serve us well in a storm.  As we are learning here at the clinic, it is not a matter of pushing these feelings away, ignoring them, or trying to feel differently.  Instead, it is about being with these emotions and finding peace with them.  This can seem impossible and it certainly felt that way for us until we discovered the Mountain Meditation by Cory Muscara (you can find it on Simple Habit, a mindfulness app you can download on your phone).

Cory’s ‘Mountain Meditation’ is one of our absolute faves at the clinic…and we’ve got it on REPEAT!.

He begins this 6 minute meditation by inviting you to picture a mountain in your mind.  It can be any mountain – something you’ve seen in a picture or landscape, or a mountain you’ve climbed.  He then invites you to reflect on the qualities of that mountain.  What words would you use to describe it:  grounded… resilient… vulnerable… still… calm…

He then asks that as you continue to reflect on these qualities, begin to integrate them into yourself.  And then he asks:

“How does it feel to BE in this way…  taking on these mountain-like qualities as you sit here:

…still… calm…grounded…resilient…

How does it feel to SHOW UP in this way?  To put your stake in the ground and say:

I am not moving.  I can be with this storm.

I can be with the weather patterns… with the thoughts… the emotions… I can be with the sensations…

I can be with this with a sense of peace, ease and balance…”
